Feelin’ Myself

A simple act to building daily confidence

When Nicki Minaj and Beyonce famously sang ‘Feelin’ Myself‘ in 2014, it wasn’t about masturbation.

They claimed it for confidence.

I’ve heard my friends use the the phrase countless times to describe specific moments in time and it got me thinking – what’s the difference between feelin’ yourself and feeling [like] yourself?

Based on the above definitions we can summarize that:

feelin’ yourself = is more of a situational, momentary confidence
feel [like] oneself = is a general state of being, your normal

But, umm . . . shouldn’t these definitions be the same???

I mean, really, why aren’t moments of feeling dope as shit & good in your own skin regularly occurring experiences?

Why aren’t they the baseline feelings we have for ourselves every day?

For some people, they may be. But for the larger majority of us, this isn’t the case.

But it can be.

And it starts with one simple act:
Feel Yourself. Every. Dang. Day.

This means find one activity, one routine, one simple pleasure that you can enjoy each day.

Maybe you only have 5 minutes – great!
Maybe you have 5 hours – great!
The point is to do this enjoyable activity no matter what.

Because you are awesome as f*@k.

And when you practice recognizing and cultivating your awesomeness it starts to grow.

When you make time for activities you enjoy, you feel good.
When you feel good, you start to build confidence.
When you feel confident, you really know what “you” feels like.
When you feel yourselflife gets better.
